TPToA Podcast 331 – Our Flag Means Death (S1)

The least believable, but actually "based on a true story" ever!
It takes a moment to find it's sea legs, but when it settles in it becomes a delightfully queer exploration of class, trauma, desire and truth to ones-self and ones crew. That it's based on history just makes it all the more enjoyable.

AWESOME

Hoist the misenmast, keelhaul the bilges and batten down the cabin boy, as we set sail for the warm loving seas of Our Flag Means Death! We are opening up this first season’s chest of emotional pirate booty before Season 2 catches the wind and runs us down! It’s Rhys Darby and Taika Waititi leading with their hearts and we are here for it (especially as it’s based on a true story!)

Chart a course for LGBTIQA+ fun with your crew of the good ship Awesome; Captain Dion, First Mate Jill, Admiral Peta and the Kraken himself; Quinny.

Based on the true adventures of 18th-century would-be pirate Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby). After trading in the seemingly-charmed life of a gentleman for one of a swashbuckling buccaneer, Stede becomes captain of the pirate ship Revenge. Struggling to earn the respect of his potentially mutinous crew, Stede’s fortunes change after a fateful run-in with the infamous Captain Blackbeard. Stede and crew attempt to get their ship together and survive life on the high seas.

Avast ye landlubbers, a huge thank-you goes to our scurvy crew of buccaneers who join in with the conversation on the Twitch stream, live and loud each week, (usually on Tuesday night at 7:30pm AEST). And an especially huge “ahoy!” to any of you kind enough to support us by chucking their Pirate Booty into our jar via Ko-Fi, or subscribing on twitch… every doubloon helps us become the even more LGBTIQA+ friendly podcast you know and love…

If you feel so inclined, drop us a sub! The more subs we get the more Emotes You get! Every bit of your support helps us to keep our ship all swabbed and ship-shape!

Don’t fret if you can’t be there for the recording though as you can catch them on Youtube usually later that very night. Make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss them!

What changes would you like to see us make moving forward?
