For an adaptation of a HUGE anime it does a LOT right.
But it's also deeply weird and if you don't really "get" the style it's not going to win you over to anime as a whole. It's really good, for what it is. And that's great for fans of the manga and long running animated series.

Normally when we talk about sailing the high seas for our entertainment, it’s a bit more tongue in cheek (and possibly referring to the high cost of streaming services and film in this hellscape of an economy). But in this case it’s 100% above board! or Over Board! We are setting sail for adventure on The Grand Line looking for the mythical pirate treasure of Gold Roger; the One Piece! Will Monkey D Luffy and his Straw Hat Crew find it and become KING OF THE PIRATES! We will find out now!
Please note: if none of this makes sense to you and it feels like a lot of random words thrown around on the high seas of the internet… we are ok. We aren’t having a stronk. This is Anime baby; And its over 1000 episodes long! So we reviewed the 8 episodes of the Netflix Live action version, it was the only way.
Dion, Jill and Peta are our straw hat pirates this week, as Quinny is off seeking his own fortunes in a South by South-Westerly direction!
A thank you to all you badass pirates and weird anime animal people who join in on the Twitch stream, each Tuesday night at 7:30pm AEDST And a special thank you to those Crew members who have supported us by dropping their Gold Rogers into our Grand Line… Thanks for supporting us directly via our Ko-Fi jar and now also by subscribing to our ongoing voyage of discovery on Twitch!
If you like what we do, drop us a sub! Every bit of your support helps us to (hopefully) keep entertaining you!
Don’t fret if you can’t be there for the recording though as you can catch them on Youtube usually within a day of recording. Make sure to subscribe there so you don’t miss them!
