TPToA Podcast 199 – Wonder Woman 1984

Podcasts are good… but they could be better!

Dion and Quinny are joined by a phalanx of Wonder Women in Jill, Peta and Bec in this first jam-packed podcast of 2021! Wonder Woman 1984 may have been delayed multiple times though 2020 but now it’s finally been released into the wild and we’re here to give it the critical once-over it desperately needs. Will we be watching this one for a Drunk Cinema entry in the future or does it manage to live up to the legacy of its predecessor? Listen in and find out!

As always, a massive thanks goes to our magical community of nerds and invisible jet enthusiasts who join in with the conversation on the Twitch stream, live and loud each Tuesday night at 7:30pm AEDT. And an especially huge thanks to any of you kind enough to support us by chucking a tip in our jar via Ko-Fi, every bit helps us get better at giving you more! Don’t fret if you can’t be there for the recording though as you can catch them on Youtube the Thursday of the same week. Make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss them!

Positives
It occasionally feels like a vibrant and colourful, candy-coated version of an '80s action movie.
The costume design and look of most of the character is great.
Steve Trevor leads to some legitimately funny moment.
Negatives
Its a mess, trying to do too much with too many plot holes and inconsistencies
You will not get the run time of this film back into your life.
The treatment of Cheetah's entire plot-line is questionable and extremely reductive.
