The stylistic choices feel intelligent and thematically relevant to the mysterious plot
It's making bold choices on how best to explore two, thus far, under-utilised characters.
The decade by decade time shifting structure will allow for some entertaining episodes in future.
The first two episodes have the burden of the slow pace and archaic style of the sitcoms they are aping.
As we don't know the characters that well, caring about them and their problems may be difficult.
The short run-times of the shows doesn't allow much space for building the mystery.
