TPToA Podcast 249 – Spider-man: No Way Home (Spoilers)

A trilogy-ender to end all trilogies.
A blockbuster conclusion to a highly successful trilogy, and in some ways a clean slate for future stories to be told. It's BIG and brilliant and manages to lift its own weight of expectation without breaking a sweat.

Spiderverse
It gives all its characters a lot to do, more than just cameos, they are all serviced well
It's rollicking good fun and even with a long run-time it never feels too tedious.
The bits with SPOILER, SPOILER, SPOILER and a bunch of other SPOILERS are fun!
Spiderprose
The portrayal of Dr Strange feels very odd and if it wasn't intended, it was a mistake.
The weight of fan expectation may mean that this could never live up to it.
If you haven't seen a BUNCH of Marvel and Spider-man movies this may be a LOT.

AWESOME

2021 has been, let’s be frank here… a bit of a shit year. And I can guarantee you that if we could all just pop in to chat with our local Sorcerer Supreme, (Or maybe more Sorcerer Marinara these days) and get him to remove the memories of the last couple of years, we probably would. Well thats what Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is asking for, and in typical magical style, he really needs to be careful what he wishes for.

Finishing up the Sony/Marvel “Home” trilogy (Homecoming and Far From Home), Spider-Man: No Way Home is the years biggest Superhero film and marks the natural conclusion to this arc of Peter Parker’s life. We could say more, but as this is a super spoiler filled podcast, we might leave it for the second half of the show.

Resident Tom Holland stalk… SUPER FAN Bec joins the cast, while Dion joins us from his own alternate universe somewhere… north of the wall.  Jill and Quinny both swing in on their own spider webs of bad-assery, and Peta is an apology due to the burgeoning Omnicron spread and the concerning lack of airflow in cinemas.

All of us here at TPToA would like to wish all our regular listeners a Merry Christmas, a happy holidays and a whole bunch of joy for the new year! Thank you for your support, your input and you general wonderful-ness. Stay safe folks and as always, stay awesome.

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.
